Burkhard Körner grew up in a small town in East Germany. After volunteering at a psychiatry unit in France he studies Culture and Theater Studies at the University Leipzig (D), Elementary Music and Dance Education in Salzburg (A) and Choreography at the SNDO in Amsterdam (NL). Since 2011 Burkhard Körner begins to stage his own choreographic creations at the intersection of body, dance, voice and music in various theaters in Amsterdam and Berlin. He investigates in his work questions of the individual within a collective as well as looking into processes of identity appropriation. Besides his fascination for dance, theater and performance he has a strong interest in the exploration with (his own) voice as a part of the performative body.
In 2015 Burkhard Körner was nominated for the ITs Krisztina de Châtel Award at the ITs Festival Amsterdam.
Furthermore he performed in pieces by Anna Nowicka, Clara Amaral, Hisako Horikawa, Matej Kejzar and Maria La Ribot.
